Today we received a call to tell us that we have been short listed for the Pride in Breckland Awards 2015! We have been nominated for the Business of the Year award due to our work with local charities through our Support Scheme. We would like to thank anyone who nominated us for the award because just being short listed will really help raise the profile of the scheme and hopefully get word to more charities and local organisations about what we have to offer!
The scheme was thought of by my father Philip Morter about 2 years ago. We were often getting asked for raffle prises for village fetes and to hold small stalls for a small fee at charity events. But due to staffing issues holding a stall ourselves was not a viable option.
So for one customer he decided to let them hold the stall for us, take whatever plants they thought would sell well and charge a pre-agreed price just for the plants that were sold. This particular fete was asking £6 for a small stall, but in selling the plants themselves and paying only for the plants sold and returning those that were not, they raised £60 for their chosen charity!
Because it was such a success we decided to do it for anyone and everyone who was interested. And so the Charity Support Scheme was born!
We have helped raise hundreds of pounds for charities over then past two years, and we’re always so pleased that organisers come back to us time and time again.
So again I would like to thank everyone who has nominated us for the award and the people that use the scheme! And for anyone thinking about doing it we’re always happy to answer any questions you have, just give us a ring!
